Oval Road
Camden Town, London NW4
This project is in Camden Town, adjacent to the Regent’s Canal and is a former warehouse dating from the late 1800s. Various facades were required to be retained; some of these facades needed vertical as well as lateral support due to the removal of existing cast iron columns.
Five different temporary works retention systems were required, some of which are linked, to offer mutual support. Others required kentledge to achieve stability. Contractors Design Services were appointed by Squibb Demolition Ltd to design the temporary works, provide day to day advice on the inevitable design modifications as they arose and supervise handovers and inspections. In total, over 100 tonnes of structural steelwork was installed.
