Holland Park

London W8

Temporary Works: Retained façade and side return above new basement extension into rear garden.
Client:
 City Basements

Detached residential development in Holland Park.

Contractors Design (CDS) Ltd., in conjunction with City Basements, developed and designed the sheet piling, perimeter support to the basement, temporary propping to the sheet piles, steel framed façade retention and temporary piles to support the retained façade.

Dewatering wells were employed to lower the ground water table and facilitate excavation.

Use was made of the sheet piles to provide temporary support to the retained facades. During excavation, some problems with the temporary bored piles supporting the façade became evident. CDS and City Basements reacted rapidly and pro-actively with the client’s team to resolve these issues.
